A few days ago we were sitting in a bar sipping a hot cup of coffee and talking about our dreams. We ended up talking about travel and were planning on having many adventures. As said so we decided to have a little journey, I opened my laptop and started looking at the map. At first we wanted to go to Florence, but the schedule wasn’t good enough, so we went for Venice. We booked the hotel and the train ticket. With excitement we finished drinking our already cold coffee, lighted up a cigaret and dreamingly smiled.
The following day, with our backpack and tickets, we jumped on the train and waited for his duty to be done. We arrived after the sunset. Venice greeted us with its romantic, but rainy atmosphere. We walked for over one hour to arrive to the hotel, since Dea (our little puppy) enjoyed running around like crazy, tiredness was overcoming and the cold wind slowed down our steps. We were hungry and thirsty. Instead of sitting in a bar and starting our adventure with a relaxing happy hour, we took two beers and drank them while reaching our destination.
The hotel was hidden in one of the little streets and without our phones we could have been easily lost. After having fed Dea, we left our backpacks and went out in search for an open restaurant. Since it was late, we found only an open bar. We ordered, drunk cold beer and laughed.
The following day I woke up early to do my puppy mother duty. I walked the streets of Venice smelling the cold morning air and enjoyed the sun rays that were warming me up. Entered the hotel I asked at the reception if the breakfast could be served in the room. Cappuccino and brioches, in pajamas, sitting on the bed. I felt so lucky.
After having packed out things, we returned the keys and stepped out in the streets of Venice. It was like walking in a labyrinth. The high walls of brick and the bridges fooled us. We got lost more than once, but it was worth it, since I was with him.
We went to Piazza San Marco, took some pictures and let Dea play with the pigeons. When our stomachs begun to grumble, our search of the restaurant begun. We ended up eating pizza and drinking beer next Ponte degli Scalzi (bridge). The view was breathless, the sun blessed our break and we lost ourself in the eyes of each other.
After a coffee and cigaret we bought the train tickets, while waiting for our journey to end, I took other pictures and enjoyed the sunset. The way back was relaxing and sad at the same time. However I was so happy knowing that even for such a small time, I had this trip with the person I care the most.
